FISHING AND HUNTING

The time-honored lobster fishing of southern Norway

Lobster fishing has been practiced in Høvåg since the 17th century. Every fall, the stage is set for the event of the year — the hunt for the “cardinal of the sea.” Anglers are drawn from near and far by a magical blend of nature experiences, fishing secrets, tall tales, and the catch itself. With Blindleia Fisk og Hygge, you’ll get the full experience, staying just inside of Blindleia’s best lobster spots. The experience include putting out 10 lobster traps. Breakfast, lunch, as well as a lobster dinner. All necessary equipment are included. We organize lobster fishing trips for companies, groups of friends, and families — up to 20 people. Hiring a chef with local knowledge is possible. Food and drinks ready upon arrival. Catch guarantee.
Season: October, November

Ocean traps fishing during the winter months — straight from the sea to the table
February through May is the season for ocean traps. Ocean trap fishing offers plenty of excitement. Although the focus is on crayfish, shrimp, and snow crab, you may also catch fish such as tusk, ling, cod, saithe and haddock. Here you can experience coastal life, head out to sea, uncover what the ocean has on offer and return home to cook up today’s catch. In addition to accommodations close to the fishing spots, meals and all necessary equipment are included.

Rod fishing

Spring and fall are particularly good times for rod fishing — from a boat, from a rock, or fly fishing along the shore-line. Blindleia is especially known for its excellent sea trout fishing, with good opportunities as well for sea bass, rock gurnard, and pollock. We’ll share our best fishing spots or take you out on the water. If you’d like a more guided experience, we also partner with experienced local fishing guides. For groups, we can offer packages with Asgeir Alvestad. Asgeir holds the Norwegian record for species fishing and is a skilled sea trout and sea bass angler. A program with Asgeir typically starts with a two-hour lecture in the afternoon, followed by two days of fishing.

Blindleia Fisk & Hygge partners with Anglerpilot —a premium fishing guide offering a variety of specialized trips in Agder.

Deep-sea fishing
We also offer deep-sea fishing for species such as ling, tusk, and blue whiting, and can put together customized trips based on your preferences. We rent out most types of equipment, suitable for a wide range of fishing styles. Have any special requests? Please contact us.

BATHING AND SAUNA

Sauna just by the water's edge

Down by the sea, in a traditional Southern Norwegian seaside cabin, we have a modern electric sauna. It seats 7 people, has its own changing room, has access to a cold-water shower right outside and a beautiful view of the water. A visit to the sauna brings a sense of calm to body and mind. Some people like to combine it with a refreshing dip from the sandy beach or the dock right outside the door, summer or winter. The sauna is available to our overnight guests and can also be rented privately. Parking is available in the immediate vicinity.

Swimming in Blindleia
Blindleia is home some of to Norway’s most charming swimming spots, with the warmest water temperatures. Swimming can be enjoyed in many ways — whether you prefer a secluded cove all to yourselves or a popular swimming spot with diving opportunities, we know the best places.

ACTIVITIES ON THE SEA

Islets and skerries
Calm seas, a leisurely pace, sun-warmed rocky shores and gentle mornings — Blindleia is a unique experience, especially during the summer months. What fewer people know is that Southern Norway can actually be just as appealing during the rest of the year. Every season has its own color palette, with winter’s pastel skies against the dark silhouettes of the islets perhaps being the most beautiful of all. By boat, kayak or SUP, you’ll have access to some of the most stunning experiences Norway has to offer.

On the water – boat, kayak or SUP
Blindleia is best enjoyed on the water. In addition to boats, we have 6 kayaks and 6 SUP boards, as well as safety equipment. We have excellent partners who offer courses in kayaking, SUP and other water sports. We also collaborate with Padlegleden, which offers a variety of paddling experiences in the region. Get in touch — we’ll put together suggestions and coordinate them with your stay according to your preferences.

ACTIVITIES ON LAND

The calm of the forest
Høvåg is an archipelago village between Lillesand and Kristiansand with scattered settlements and big areas of unspoiled lakeside nature. Here you’ll find kilometers of forest trails where you can walk alone with nothing but the sounds of nature. You’ll encounter birds, squirrels and deer, and you can pick mushrooms or wild garlic to add a special touch to your dinner. The house is situated with the sea and the forest as its closest neighbors. Read more about the amenities here.

Good times – in the garden, on the dock and at the beach
Anyone who grew up in the archipelago or spent their summer vacations here as a child knows the magic in the combination of summer, a bucket, bare feet, and all the exciting things nature has to offer. Come visit us — the summer memories await.
